"In my job, I get introduced to new technologies and inventions and meet the people behind the inventions. I enjoy problem solving which may be in the form of finding the best possible way of turning an invention into a patent application, for example. This job also provides all opportunities to debate, present arguments, and negotiate one could hope for."
Torsti joined Laine IP in April 2024. He works in the ICT & mechanics team as a European Patent Attorney, working with patent applications related to electrical engineering.
Before starting his career in IPR Torsti has worked as an electric designer at Etteplan Oyj, focusing in various projects related to embedded systems (particularly systems with FPGAs). He has prior work experience also as a software designer and as a schematics/layout designer.
Additionally, Torsti has experience in patenting inventions in the field of power electronics, especially frequency converters, converter topologies and converter control algorithms. Further experience in health technologies (incl. monitoring sleep and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease). He has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in a large variety of technologies (such as cryptographic systems, insect farming and plant cultivation, robotics, and lasers).
Torsti holds a MSc degree (electrical engineering) from Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT).
