Mark moved to Finland from the US to join Laine IP in 2019. He is a US Patent Attorney on the firm’s US and Chemistry teams.
As a US Patent Attorney, Mark is uniquely able to offer patentability, validity, enforceability, and freedom to operate analyses and written opinions to the firm’s clients when they involve US patent assets.
Prior to joining Laine IP, Mark served as outside counsel to and in-house counsel for Siemens’ organizations for over 11 years, where he managed global IP strategy and prosecution for one of its business units. Prior to working with Siemens, Mark practiced in Chicago and Denver, passionately assisting clients in the acquisition and protection of their intellectual property rights.
Mark holds degrees in Forensic Science and Chemistry, and a Juris Doctor of Law from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
In his spare time, Mr. Scott enjoys art, film, studying languages, guitar, dogs, sports, triathlons, and travel.
Mark is fluent in English, partially fluent in Spanish and Russian, and is learning Finnish.
