“As a patent attorney I can use my natural curiosity and propensity to details. I particularly appreciate the possibility to work in different technical fields and being able to learn something every day. It is fulfilling to see a difficult case resulting in a grant of a patent, and the client being happy. My aim is to make my client’s life as easy as possible in patent matters. Training new patent attorneys and following the changes of the European Patent Convention nicely add to the variety of my work.”

Kaisa joined Laine IP on June 1st, 2020, and she works as patent attorney in the chemistry team. Her services include patent drafting, prosecutions, oppositions, appeals, European patents and education of patent attorneys. Kaisa offers general education for both experienced patent attorneys and newcomers, and training for European qualifying exam (EQE) – especially for the law-oriented Paper D section. She is also an author and the editor in the team updating the Visser’s Annotated European Patent Convention.

Kaisa has a MSc degree in material engineering and she has also studied chemistry at Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. She has passed the course epi/CEIPI ”Patent Litigation in Europe” (2006-2007) as well as its update module on UPC (2014).

Kaisa passed the European Qualifying Examination of the European Patent Office in 2003 and since 1998 she has worked in demanding patent attorney work in patent agencies and for periods of time in industry.

She is also a member of Finnish Association for Corporate Patent Agents (PI) and the Finnish Association for Industrial Property Rights (STY).
